Today Dave let me know that he scored 4 free tickets to Nascar – my kids are pretty exited. I wasn’t sure how he did so… until he mentioned that he used Vet Tix… which reminded me – I posted this late last year. This is a great time to re-familiarize yourself with “Vet Tix”. .. it’s somewhat of a new program available to military only.
For those of you that are military, or military Veterans, this will be of importance to you.
Vet Tix is an organization that helps to provide FREE Tickets to Military, Veterans and their families – you must meet certain requirements to qualify, which include:
You must be in one of the 5 branches of the armed Forces, and either Active, Veteran, or Spouse of someone Killed In Action. Branches include Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Air Force, Navy & Army (including Reserves). To read the rest of the qualifications head HERE.
Through the Hero’s Wish Program, members of Vet Tix may request specific tickets for any single event (no trips, flights, hotels or cruises). Members can submit a Hero’s Wish through the Vet Tix site HERE – Vet Tix will then verify the member as qualified, and help explore ways to make the Hero’s “Wish Come True” – whether posting on their site with a donate button, through emails, faxes or phone calls & sometimes even more.
Non-military can help fulfill the requests of these Hero’s by donating tickets to fulfill, OR by making a monetary payment towards a Vet Tix request or requests.
You can see all of the Hero’s requests HERE, and read more about Vet Tix here on their site.
For Dave, he merely logged in tonight (knowing that the tickets for Nascar would be live at 7 p.m. – he got 4. You might be able to score too, if they have some left.. they won’t last long..
I do think this is an amazing opportunity for those who aren’t serving to give back to those who are. It looks like the program is still rather new as well, so hopefully it will gain some momentum the more we share with our military community.
