I firmly believe in goals as a mom, wife and as ME I also believe the family as a whole should have goals and my kids are never too young to start setting goals and learning what it takes to reach them.
A lot of us are visual. We need to SEE what we are aiming to accomplish in our lives.
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a tool many folks use to be able to keep their goals in view.
It can be as simple as a poster board from the 99 Only Store to a magnetic whiteboard bought at an office supply store or Amazon.
On the board, you display images or pictures of what you want to accomplish in the NEW Year. We like to have both individual boards, and ALSO one as a family so we can all work on family goals together while we work on goals as individuals.

Why a Vision Board?
Everyone is always SO busy. We can easily be distracted — we are bombarded daily and being pulled in 20 different directions.
Its nice to have a place where we can come back to and refocus our minds eye. A vision board gives us a place to come back to and get clarity. Our mental vision becomes real and we can see it daily.
What are you looking to accomplish this year? As a Parent? Wife? Family? Self? Are you looking to start an Emergency Fund for your family’s savings fallback? Perhaps lose weight? Get healthier? Be more patient? Be more loving or find more time for your relationship with your significant other? What about the kids? Is your little one aiming to get potty trained? Start preschool? Get better grades or keep a tidy room?
Finding images that fit our vision, our goals will help us keep a visual reminder of what our goal is day to day.
What do you Put on your Board?
Anything that inspires you! A postcard to the place you hope to visit this year with the kids, cut out pictures from magazines that show a neater house, or organized pantry…you know the ones with perfect containers with chalkboard labels and lovely canvas bins…you get the idea.
What about for the kids? Well they can draw themselves accomplishing their goals, or pictures you can print online, etc. They can make a better report card or a chart where they can keep track of their progress, etc.
You also want to include affirmations, special quotes that inspire you and give you that UMPH you need when you have a bad day or start to doubt yourself.
Where do you Start?
First… you will want to make a list and figure out what you want.
I will start. I want to lose weight for me to feel better and stay healthy for my family; I want the lovely pantry I mentioned previously; I want to save more money and take the kids to Disneyland and maybe New York.
That’s the short list. The long list is a bigger house and a trip to Europe, in a few years but the hard work we do now will help us reach that goal faster.
What about the kids? Well my son wants to improve his grades and my daughter wants to learn to knit and stay on honor roll.
I’m digging out all my magazines, we are googling pictures, they are drawing pictures and coloring them in. I’m going to put up postcards from New York and our last tickets from Disneyland and pictures because we look so happy.
I printed the 52 week savings plan and I’m writing down how much I save each week.
This week, we are going to set sometime after dinner and set out our pictures, our boards and all our supplies and get to it.
Board Wx Magnetic Whiteboard Sheet for Fridge with 4 Dry Erase Markers 17 x 12 Inches
The kids picked up poster board this past weekend and I ordered this magnetic white board for the kitchen so our family Vision Board will be in a central place where we can all look at it and be inspired daily.
