It’s back! Once again, the Nielson Home Scan National Consumer Panel is now accepting new applicants..
If you are accepted, you will be sent a small hand-held scanner to scan the bar-codes of everything you purchase. Once a week, you then transmit this information and earn points for purchases which you can redeem through their Gift Catalog.
I posted this last time it came around, and got quite a few comments – some of you were happy with your experiences with NCP, and some of you did not enjoy it at all……
If you do sign up and find out that you don’t enjoy it, you can send back the scanner in the postage paid box they provide to you. Go HERE to read more & apply. Here is what some Freapers have said:

I have been doing this since last fall. Hang in there. Once you register, they will send emails out periodically to ask if you are still interested. If so, you will keep advancing up the list. I believe it took about 6 months for me to become a member. Some times it’s a pain… I am lazy and I have to enter all the coupon deals I find here. But when that they ask what the finally price I paid is… Thanks SHERYL

We’ve been doing this for several years. I’m so used to scanning now that it’s no biggie, but then sometimes I think of how much easier it would be not to do it. We’ve got a lot of points built up, we’re just continuing to build them and someday they’ll buy us something super nice that we otherwise could not afford.
I haven’t yet tried it and I *think* I signed up for it last time, but now that I remember maybe I forgot- I haven’t gotten anything yet and I’m sure if I would have it would have been here by now. I was going to make it a project for my daughter

I received my scanner last week, although it’s bad timing (Classes started, time to move, etc.) I think it’s a cool opportunity. The scanning doesn’t take all that long and the codes are usually the same so you can memorize what you want to put it… It becomes like a trained motion. They also give you chances to earn sweepstakes, you get entries for scanning & uploading each week. Hopefully I’ll get something nice out of it, even if I don’t end up winning a sweepstakes! Thanks Sheryl!!

I have tried signing up a couple of times, but they dont seem to have need for applicants in Tucson.

Same here. Everytime the opportunity comes up, I go apply and they don’t want people in Tucson.
