Most of us are in Holiday Mode – buying up tons of gifts so we can be prepared for Christmas this year with our gift giving – and while I think it’s important to gift (within reason of course), I also think it’s just as important for us to save too.
Many of us did this last year, so for those of you who did, this is just another chance to save on TOP of what you already put away – you might just surprise yourself — as you progress through the year, you might be able to put MORE in there leading to an even bigger piggy.
Because most families are on a tight budget, I think this might be one of the easiest ways to save –a 52 Week Savings Challenge. It’s important that all of us have an Emergency Fund – and while most can’t simply throw in $1,000 and call it done, this will help that happen on a more gradual basis.
Perhaps this will encourage you to save bigger, and better in 2016… or, encourage your kids to save, or maybe encourage you to do this for each of your kids.
- Each week, add the amount noted above to your account – I would suggest opening an account just for this
(Some banks will allow you to open a savings with as little as $25.00 – or, open a checking for now)
- Each week I will remind you to deposit your money; follow us on Facebook and join my mailing list for reminders.
- Should you add in extra, note that on the sheet as well – if you stick with the sheet, above, you will save $1,378.
- Pin the sheet to keep it as a reminder of where you should be… cross out the weeks as you progress – any extra will just be a BONUS!

In the past we have ALWAYS mentioned that making a commitment to save is more of an EMOTIONAL priority.. and I strongly believe that to be the case with our Savings Challenge: it’s SO easy, anyone could jump on board with success 1 year later.
If you are in doubt whether or not you can, I challenge you to do it – if you are shopping for Christmas, there is NO reason you can’t jump on this Savings Challenge – make it a priority. In any case, saving should always be more of a priority than gifts – am I right? Gifts are temporary, a savings is a foundation for your family.
Would you like to participate? If you would, you can print the spreadsheet HERE – or, save to your computer (it’s a PDF).
