I have gotten several emails this evening (well, much more than 2 handfuls…) from readers pointing out that they saw a post on another site in regards to this coupon.
Have I seen it? I sure have… I saw it earlier today on a very well reputable coupon forum – so it’s not “new news” to me
The above coupon has been identified by the CIC as a fraudulent coupon – to summarize, I’ll just say that J&J did not authorize this coupon. Therefore, if you have it, please toss it. The coupon was posted by MANY blogs, and forums and used by many folks over this past month in deals at various stores.
Obviously we cannot go back and fix what has been done…all we can do is move forward and destroy any remaining; I’m not sure what happened, but it appears as if this Bricks coupon was created by someone and was used on mass level. Of course this puts out worry for any and all of those printables that we so commonly use – although I do a lot of research in the deals I provide, it is sometimes impossible to know what printables are real and what are fraudulent.
I recommend keeping the CIC site bookmarked on your computer, I know it is on mine – refer to it regularly to keep yourself educated and informed on coupons that are not legitimate so as to avoid any issues with future coupons & purchases.
Seriously? That coupon came to me in my e-mail from Albertson’s!!
Yes……… I’m not kidding.
How can you tell it’s a fraudulent coupon? What should we be looking for to know it’s a fraudulent coupon? Thanks for keeping us informed!
You can tell that this particular coupon is fradulent because it was identified by the CIC. If you visit the website of the CIC (that Sheryl posted above) there are lots of great resources when it comes to coupon usage and how to tell if it is fraudulent, etc. Look in their FAQ section as a great reference point.
is it means that coupon printed from bricks are not guarantee legitimate?
Not necessarily…. I will say that typically bricks coupons are not fraudulent. I’m not sure what happened in this case, because I got this coupon from an Albertsons email… so obviously everyone who signed up for Albies emails got it.. did Albies know it was fake? I dont know what happened. I dont know maybe one person printed the coupon & copied it several times, or if the Bricks link was in fact created. All I can say is that I will be more wary of printable coupons from Bricks from this point forward.. obviously there is never a 100% guarantee. Frustrating isn’t it?
yes.. frustrating.. i printed two from bricks website.. and both have unique vefi-code.. and verified Valid.. but guess now become fraudulent?and fortunately have never used it yet
not sure about the Albies email… does it got unique vefi-code?
Holy cow I have that coupon!! Looks like it’s going in the trash thanks for the update
Yep I have one left too. Just tossed it!
Man, I was planning on using this for free Listerine at CVS. It’s a shame that people would abuse coupons.
I was gonna use them at CVS too! Oh well!
Thanks Sheryl!
I have 2 of them! Not sure where I got them from?
i got them from an albertsons email……..
There’s some online chatter that this was a legit coupon that was photocopied so much that it was declared fraudulent to cease all use of it.
Wow! I already used these a week or 2 ago. First, I tried to use them at CVS for free listerine the end of March, but an employee stopped me in the middle of the store and said if I was going to use the coupons for ‘those’ (referring to the listerine in my shopping cart) that they wouldn’t work. She said the coupon wouldn’t go through and if they tried to make it go through it would ADD $2 to my transaction.
I called CVS corporate and complained, and eventually went back to the store to get the listerine for free. I got 8 bottles. When they scanned the coupon, it did in fact add $2, but the manager fixed it. I didn’t realize the coupon was fraudulent. I don’t even remember where I printed from. I’ve only used your links or gone to reputable sites like coupons.com, smartsource.com or redplum.com
I feel bad. I had NO IDEA!
oh! yours broght my memory. I remembered I used it long time ago. I can only print 2 because I only 1 computer. I used it at cvs and I found out it was deducted from my transaction, instead it added $2 back. I called the store, the cashier is nice and she did transaction for me so she remembered I gave her that coupon. She refund money to me. Oh, My, now I’m so scared if she thought I’m a “thief” if she saw this news. :(
Thanks for the heads up Sheryl. I was going to use them this week. When these things happen, I always worry about how it will affect all legitimate coupon users in the future. As always , it only take one person to ruin it for everyone!
