I just posted a great deal on Peroxide and First Aid Bags at Walgreens. If you are not a regular purchaser of Peroxide, or if you need to pick some up, here is one idea to help you put it to use – make your own Oxi Clean.
Homemade Oxi Clean
1 cup hot water
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
Make this recipe as you need it……do not save it for later. Any leftover would lose potency……with time that is. Mix the stuff….add clothes and soak for 20 minutes (or overnight like I do). In the a.m., rinse & wash as usual. The solution makes about 2 cups.
OR……you can do this:
Another great homemade spot remover you can make is by combining equal parts of liquid dish soap, ammonia and water in a spray bottle, shake & spray spot.
AND — it has many other uses as well – that go beyond Spot Remover and Oxi Clean:
- Cleaning your countertops (it’s a sanitizer)
- As a substitute for using bleach in your laundry – but double the amount (so use 1 C. instead of 1/2) – likewise, pour directly on stains (but may want to color treat first!)
- Use as a shower spray to eliminate build up
- Dab it on your lip if you get a cold sore.. it works much better and faster than the expensive products on the shelf in store
- Best use I have found – if you burn a pan on the stove, boil peroxide in the pan and then after it boils 5-7 minutes turn off the burner and let it sit a few hours….. it’ll take the burn right out.
