My Samsung laser printer has a “toner save” option so it uses less toner & the cartridge lasts longer. Things don’t print out in “extra black” but they’re still black, and the scanners read the coupons perfectly fine at the checkout. Perhaps the Brother lasers have a similar setting to use less toner?
