Several months ago I let you know that you can use common household items to make your own cleaners.
While I admit that I will pick up cheap cleaners (if they are less than $.50) they get passed directly to my in laws who use them to clean her house.
I try to stay clear of anything unless it’s vinegar, baking soda & similar – you can save a whole lot more by sticking with the basics .. versus the more toxic ingredients.
I am a huge proponent of Essential Oils, and while I don’t talk about them too much on the blog, I use them at home all the time… and if you do too, you can whip together your own all purpose cleaner with just a few basic ingredients.
Because Essential Oils don’t work well with plastic… take a poke around your house to find a glass bottle and unscrew the cap. Pick up an old screw top and fix it atop the glass bottle.
Then here’s a recipe to help you get started
- 1/2 C. White Vinegar
- 3 C. Water
- 25 drops of Essential Oil (I use Thieves, or Lemon.. you can also use Citrus Fresh)
You can be a little different and use 1/2 Thieves & 1/2 Lemon too.
Tip upside down and right side up to mix well; keep this in a dark place since the sun tends to oxidize oils… and make sure you keep out of reach of your kiddos.
To read more about how to get started on Essential Oils read my last post… you can capture a wholesale discount by heading HERE. I actually picked up the Young Living Starter Collection for a super deal – it included all of the everyday oils and a diffuser, too.
