If you are planning on making your own cleaners.. and it really IS very simple, you can easily do that with a handful of items. If you open my cabinets in the kitchen, you’ll probably be surprised to see that I don’t own any commercial cleaners.
Buying commercial cleaners is just a money pit for us… if you look at any grocery store, there are an overabundance of cleaners… they have 1,001 toilet cleaners, 3,545,541,588 scent of bathroom cleaner imaginable (ok .. I might be going overboard but that is exactly how I feel!), floor cleaner, tile cleaner, stone cleaner, stain remover, softener, laundry soap, laundry pre-soak.. .. where does it end? Obviously it’s a HUGE business for manufacturers because many are brand loyal.
But if you are NOT brand loyal, and you are looking for ONE way to cut your expenses at home, i would suggest using up your items, then staritng fresh. Keep your plastic spray top bottles, because you can use those to make Glass Spray Bottles (see HERE for more)….
You will save HUGE bucks over time. It’s unbelievable how much you can spend on those things, when you can probably get rid of them all and cut your budget down to PENNIES with things that will stretch farther.
Just a few months ago we let you know How to Determine the Stock Up Price on Cleaning Supplies.… many of you mentioned you use Vinegar in your own home.
Pick up Vinegar at Costco if you are a Member – 2 HUGE gallons are just over $3 – use your Vinegar in place of Fabric Softener in the laundry, for mopping the floor, and for Spraying the Bathroom Shower.
Use your Hydrogen Peroxide for washing fruit, mopping your tile, and even spraying your Bathroom Tile. It works GREAT and it’s just as effective. You can also use it as Mouthwash, too.
Here are some of the BEST items to have if you’d love to get RID of your cleaners and start making your own – we rounded up a few that we have mentioned previously, from Yard, to Pet, to Air Care, & more.
