Every day I get an email with promotions from Buy.com – today I read through it.. because it had the iPad in there. I love mine- I could never go back to living without it. It was definitely an investment, and took some time for me to save up – but it is how I blog when I’m not at home.
Buy.com has 1st & 2nd Generation iPads with 29% cash back – you will receive the cash back based on the purchase amount. If you buy the iPad 2, with WiFi (which is the one I have) for $515, you get back 29%, which is equivalent to $149 (14,935 points)… making it $366 when you factor in the cash back.
You will get the points 15 days after your order ships, and you have 5 days to use them. Shipping is FREE on Buy.com.

So you just receive points towards a future purchase? Not actual cash back? Looking for one for my hubby’s birthday. Thanks!

Right, you use it towards a future. Im a big fan of Buy.com because they always do free shipping and they have so many items… and always such great prices. I got my iPad at the Apple store thinking it would be cheaper, or better b/c they had people there. I ended up spending almost double what they sell for. Totally frustrating.

It is, it’s like a portal that gathers the best deals in one place. I haven’t had a bad experience with them, I got quite a bit of stuff at Christmas. I love my ipad, but salesmen at the apple store always going to get you to sign up for things.
If you get the iPad 2, with WiFi you will need to take it to a Verizon store after you get it – it’s $30-$50 a month (non conract) for the data plan. I pay $30, gives me internet everywhere. Even in the car.

really? about the even in the car?!?!? I like that. I don’t have a smart phone because i don’t want the big monthly bill..but i might consider getting a wifi plan. Do you NEED to get a wifi plan or can you just use it at home and hotspots if I wanted to. ((too many questions for the blog, but hey i need all the info i can get ))

This is how it works..
iPads come 3G (WiFi) or just Wireless
Wireless will work with your wireless at home + in hot spots as well
3G guarantees you internet everywhere, even in places that there is no wireless
My iPad has 3G, so I can use it in the grocery aisle at Fry’s, in the car, even in the most random places – or per say my internet goes down at home, I can use it. But Wireless only works where there is a signal for you to connect to.
My hubby has wireless – he has no bill; just the iPad he got. My iPad i just pay $30 a month, because I’m not always in a place that has wireless ability – for ex. drivin to California, I HAVE to be able to blog…. so as long as there is a cell phone tower I can get signal on my iPad. For me it’s a business expense in terms ot he blog = but you will have to decide which you need ;)
