Delicious Instant Pot Salmon that cooks up quickly and easily in the Instant Pot – perfect for a healthy meal on a busy weeknight!

Instant Pot Salmon

Salmon is one of the easiest items to cook in the Instant Pot. What normally would take 25-30 minutes otherwise takes just a few minutes.

What’s incredible about making salmon is that you can literally decide to cook it at the last minute. Even then, you can pull off one of the best dinners for the family that is incredibly healthy and filling.   Growing up, I can’t recall a single instance where my parents made salmon. I’m fairly certain as a child that I hated anything that smelled yucky when you cooked it.

Instant Pot Salmon

Fast forward 30 years and although not all of my kids get excited to eat salmon, our oldest kids don’t mind it at all. The Instant Pot makes it incredibly easy. So easy in fact that we incorporate salmon once a week, usually on a busy night that the kids have track practice

Wait… that’s every night but one.

Lets just say it’s our go-to meal.

You’ll want to make sure you have a unique sealing ring for salmon and other aromatic foods. You wouldn’t want to make cheesecake immediately after making salmon because you might get some random looks from the kids ;)

Tips for Making Salmon in your Instant Pot

Invest in a really good steamer rack like this silicone rack we use here. This silicone rack is great for many things, including steaming those veggies you’ll want to eat with your seafood. If you plan on eating your salmon with rice, I suggest making the rice prior to the salmon. Or invest in another Instant Pot insert so you can remove the rice and proceed with the seafood.

It makes it much easier than washing out the pot and putting it back in.

Our salmon is no pre-portioned, so we portion it out before cooking. Then we cook and refrigerate leftovers so we can use it in other recipes or added to our salad.
