I love chocolate chip cookies. But for the last few years I have YET to find a recipe to make them PERFECT. I have tried putting cream cheese in them, more butter, less butter, more flour – they never end up just right.
I adapted the recipe below – doubled the butter, lessened the sugar, and incorporated more brown sugar… watch out, these are delicious.
Do not overcook them – 10 minutes is ALL you need!

Ingredients
- 14 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Eggs
- 1 C. Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 C. Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 1/2 C. Flour (+ a few extra Tablespoons)
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1-2 C. Chocolate Chips.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350.
- Put the butter in a metal bowl and stick in the pre-heated oven just until the outer edges start to become soft (not melted, but soft!)
- (Or, you can put the butter in a plastic bowl and put in the microwave for exactly 30 seconds...)
- Take the butter out and let it rest.
- One the butter is cooled to room temp, add the sugar, eggs and vanilla & beat well.
- Add the flour & baking soda & stir just until blended.
- Fold in 1-2 c. Chocolate Chips.
- Drop by heaping spoonful on a lined cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 for exactly 10 minutes - take out when they JUST start to turn golden brown.
- Let rest 5-7 minutes before eating.
