5 Unusual but Effective Household Uses for Mouthwash

Mouthwash is a GREAT item to stockpile – not only will it be helpful to have when it’s most needed (when you run out)… it’s great to have around the house in a pinch.  {And we are picking up FREE this week at Walgreens, too}..

Not just for laundry but ALSO for floors – I have used mouthwash for BOTH – and as crazy as it sounds, it works amazingly well. Even more, if you have too much, you can also gift for the holidays in gift baskets.  Here are FIVE unusual ways that you can put that mouthwash to use at home.

Laundry

Add one cup to a cycle of clothes (in the Rinse Cycle!) – it’ll eliminate the stinky smell. (I love doing this.. and I keep a bottle in the laundry room regularly for this!)

Treat your Dandruff

It might not be as easy as Head & Shoulders, but if you have Dandruff, rinse your hair with 1/2 C. of Each Mouthwash and water after you shampoo.  Rinse WELL before stepping out.

Floor Cleaner

You can use Mouthwash to Mop your Floors.. just add to Mop Water as you would anything else. It works GREAT in a pinch.

Prevent Pet Pee

Deter your pets from peeing .. fill a spray bottle with 1 C. Water and 3 Tablespoons of Mouthwash and spray generously on the area.

Garbage Disposal

Pour 1/2 C. down the sink / Garbage Disposal and run the disposal to eliminate a nasty odor.  Baking soda & lemons can also be just as effective.
