Ahhh, frozen food.
I’m not a huge fan of buying frozen meals. BUT……….I was gracious enough to receive some coupons from “The Motherhood” a week or two ago, and with that came the opportunity to buy the Marie Callender “Homestyle” meals.
Those of you who are new here — I really don’t review many things. It seems as if I spend more of my time “getting deals” than reviewing items. I put the kiddos in the car, and drove to Frys to buy them – hey – we wanted to try them for supper =)
Have you ever tried these meals?
They have several varieties of them, to include the Lasagne (which is what I decided to purchase). LOVED the fact that they’re easy in a pinch…… I mean, pop it in the microwave, zap it, and it’s done in just 14 minutes. However….eh, will I buy them again? Probably not!
Let me start by saying that when I do my reviews, I put forth my honest and true opinion of an item: after all, that’s what the Manufacturer would want – and that’s what i’m here “to do”.
The meals were quite easy to make……but I honestly don’t think I would purchase them again. The price – $8.69, seemed more than a little steep (just my two cents) for something that I could make and freeze ahead of time. My mother-in-law is not so much a “frozen food pre-fab cook” gal – she’s more of a “home cooked” mamma who makes EVERYTHING homemade – so when I walked in with the dish, she went quiet…………. which made me a little concerned :)
14 minutes in the microwave……just ua few minutes to rest. Dig in, put on plates – eat with garlic bread…a salad on the side and you have yourself a meal. HOWEVER….. did I think it was worth every bit of $8.69? Oh gosh, heavens no. Not sure if it was just me but gosh, the taste was not so good! I have had Stouffers in the past and always thought they made great lasagne in a pinch (their family size is excellent) – but Marie Callender’s – heavens, someone needs a cooking lesson. It was …well, left a weird aftertaste….
I’m not a picky gal – you’re looking at someone who used to eat field food in the Army (and loved it!) but I’m not so sure that spending $8.69 on Marie Callender’s is a wise choice for my finances, nor my tummy!
** Disclosure: The Motherhood provided several coupons for review purposes, & to promote the product. Please understand that my opinions are solely my own and in no way influenced by the Motherhood, or in part to the coupons I received.
