As you get into your Essential Oils, chances are you will not only want to make your own beauty products, but you will also want to use them in your home, as well as your cooking/baking.
You know which blends to diffuse to help you with your different moods…
And you will also probably find out what oils work best in the food that you like to eat, every single day.
Here are 7 Tips to Using Essential Oils when you Cook or Bake:
#1 – Use sparingly! Essential oils are VERY concentrated, so just add a drop, mix it, and then give it a taste and add from there. Don’t go overboard.
#2 – Use quality Essential Oils. We say this because many people may not realize that there is a HUGE difference from what is sold on grocery or health food shelves — many oils are synthetically produced and are merely fragrance oils for aromatherapy reasons – not for internal consumption and not for application to the skin.
We recommend Young Living because they are Organically grown, without the use of fertilizers and pesticides, fields are hand weeded and they are the only company that owns their own farms. Not just that, but their farms are open to members for planting, and harvesting – THAT is transparency!
#3 – Pour Essential Oils onto a spoon instead of directly to the mixture. The reason we suggest this route is because when you add from the bottle directly, sometimes you will get more drops than you anticipate.
#4 – Use a ceramic or glass bowl. Essential Oils can break down plastic and foam, even some metals, so using Ceramic or Glass will ensure that your recipe stays safe and so does your bakeware.
#5 – Put the cap on immediately after using. This is especially critical if you have kids – little hands love little bottles (I know from experience!) If you open up an oil, ensure that the cap goes on immediately after you use it. Tighten that cap down.. you would be surprised what those little critters can open. You’ll also ensure that you don’t accidentally knock it off the counter top.
#6 – Use the proper oils ~ not all are edible. Young Living has an exclusive Vitality Line that is GREAT if you are cooking or baking – you can see them here.
#7 – If you are Pregnant or Nursing, be knowledgeable with which oils to avoid. You CAN use Essential Oils when you are pregnant and nursing, but not ALL of them. And always talk to your health practitioner before making any medical decisions.
If you are expecting or nursing, or have little ones, I recommend this book on Amazon – it’s essential!
