6 Recipes that Use Essential Oils

When I started using Essential Oils a few years ago, not only did I want to make my own beauty products, support my general wellness, and use them in my home, I also wanted to use them in my baking and cooking.

You know which blends to diffuse to help you with your different moods… but you will also probably discover what oils work best in food recipes that you make for your family.

When cooking with Essential Oils it’s important that you use quality Essential Oils. We say this because many people may not realize that there is a HUGE difference from what is sold on grocery or health food shelves — many oils are synthetically produced and are merely fragrance oils for aromatherapy reasons  – not for internal consumption and not for application to the skin.    Before you start cooking or baking with them you will want to read 7 tips for using them in the kitchen.

When oils are synthetically produced, they are mere chemicals concocted together – to produce a smell that’s somewhat similar to the plant, but without any therapeutic properties. Look at the bottles on the shelf at the store and you will see them note “Not for Internal Consumption”.

You hear Facebook articles often about the dangers of consuming these {synthetic} essential oils and perhaps people don’t realize that there is a huge difference in quality between what you buy in store and the real quality Essential Oils that are out there.

We recommend Young Living because they are Organically grown, without the use of fertilizers and pesticides, fields are hand weeded and they are the only company that owns their own farms.  Not just that, but their farms are open to members for planting, and harvesting – THAT is transparency!

Here are six recipes you can whip up in your kitchen using Essential Oils:

Lemon Zucchini Bread

Lemon Infused Grapefruit Tea

Grapefruit have some tremendous health benefits – chock full of vitamin C, they are also 91% water – and full of electrolytes – so great for preventing dehydration.  Grapefruit is also full of fiber .. and full of antioxidants that benefit your skin.  Using them to put together this flavorful Lemon Infused Grapefruit Tea is satisfying and great for your body.

Glazed Grapefruit Bread

Have some extra Grapefruit at home? If you do, here’s a great way to use the juice to make some amazingly moist and delicious grapefruit bread with a light grapefruit glaze.

Whole Orange and Carrot Cake

Carrot cake is always a well-loved favorite – and this one is no exception!

This carrot cake takes a slightly different twist than the traditional in that it uses coconut flour, and raw honey instead of white flour and regular granulated {processed} sugar.

Sourdough Black Pepper & Nutmeg Popovers

Sourdough Black Pepper & Nutmeg Popovers are a great way to use up too much Sourdough Starter – if you have been feeding your starter on the counter in your home and have TOO much to use… give these a try.

Sweet Potato Bread

This Sweet Potato Bread is full of flavor ~ not only will you get the health benefits of beautiful Sweet Potatoes that are full of color, you’ll also taste a few drops of Nutmeg for an added punch.
