With Halloween coming this week… many of you have been buying candy.
Thankfully we don’t do Halloween so we don’t buy ANY of the candy – but I know MANY people do. It’s crazy how much candy some kids get, last year I saw kids with HUGE pillowcases of candy and it made my eyes pop out.
If you are buying candy, or you plan on trick or treating, you will probably inherit quite a bit.
Here are some really fun ways to put yours to use – if you decide not to keep it all for yourself.
Save candy to make a holiday wreath. OR you can use it for goodie bags for upcoming family dinners for people with children – there are lots of wonderful ideas but I liked this one the best, all you need is some time a wire coat hanger some ribbon and you are done.
Save some for baking. M&M Cookies, Cupcakes topped with mini Reeses Peanut Butter cups. There are so many recipes out there for candy cookies… you can use this one for Chocolate Thumbprint Cookies and if you score Butterfinger use them to make this yummy Butterfinger Coffee Cake (this one is my favorite – you can also use Heath Bars, instead).
Use to mix in for yogurt or as ice cream toppings. Have you seen or bought those yogurts with smashed up Oreos, M&Ms and Twix? My daughter inhales them! How about buying some vanilla yogurt and making your own mix in with whatever chocolates your kids scored.
Add to your favorite homemade trail mix. Or make use to make your own granola bars! M&Ms are especially good for this idea.
Give it Away! How about to school for the Teachers prize box, the office to make your coworkers fat and not yourself or better yet how about send overseas? Our military men and woman would love a treat, Operation Shoebox is a great resource for this very opportunity.
