Have you ever shopped a Fry’s Mega Sale and bought one too many items? Or one too few? If you are like I am, it happens frequently – and you don’t always realize until later after you have left the parking lot (of course!)…
Or you may not have realized until later that day.
Either way, it can be a complete gut wrenching experience. Once you know you were off count, it will bother you for the remainder of the day – even week…
One easy way to check to see if you have the proper number is to count the (+) tallies on the receipt – those signify Mega Items. If you can do this BEFORE you leave the store then GREAT. If you are like I am, you may think you can do that, but then the kids start asking for things, they want to get a Redbox, they want to leave, they are chatty, and it’s hard to focus.
So you say “I’ll just come back…” – then things get busy and you never do.
You should try to go back within a day or two – but no more than a week at MOST. Leave the items you DID purchase at home, grab your receipt, and head to the store to try any of these 3 solutions:
#1 – Buy one or two additional items.
Grab those you have a coupon for, or any that are on sale, and take to the customer service desk – they will ring up the additional items and calculate your new total (or, money owed).
#2 – Return an item
If you bought 6 items and you ONLY needed 5 (for say a Buy 5 sale..) then return that ADDITIONAL item. Do that at customer service – then they will also refund you the money you are owed.
#3 – Neither – Eat the Mishap and Learn from your Mistakes
I hate to say this route, but I have done this.. sometimes I miscount. Sometimes I don’t catch it until later after I have left. And sometimes I don’t get back to the store for whatever reason – usually because going back means a 20 minute drive, to tote kids, and unbuckle belts.
And although this may not be the most desirable solution, you will likely learn from your mistake next time you shop and find a new method to keep track of your items a little better.
