Essential Oils have helped our family tremendously the last few years.. many people may not even recognize ALL of the uses for Essential Oils.
They go far beyond personal wellness — you can also use them for things at home, in the car, even with your STINKY shoes and perhaps even your pets.
We rounded up 20 helpful ways to incorporate essential oils – I guess you can call them “Hacks’ – right? Anything that makes your life a little easier in one area or another (or, several…) is considered a hack. I love hacks. Most people I know love hacks, too.
20 Essential Oil Hacks for Busy People
1. Have Brittle Nails? Add 1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil or Tea Tree (Melaleuca) directly to your nails to strengthen them – not to mention they will smell great, too!
2. Do you or your kids have stinky shoes? Perhaps your spouse is the culprit? Here is an easy solution – add 1-2 drops of Purification Essential Oil to a cotton ball and and leave in the shoes overnight.
3. Have a stinky car? Perhaps the kids took off their shoes on the way home? Add 1-2 drops of your favorite Essential Oil to a Cotton Ball and place in the car vents.
4. Wanting to save HUGE money on laundry? Stop buying dryer sheets and softener – invest in some wool dryer balls and use Essential Oils to scent… we love Lavender. The wool dryer balls will also cut down on dryer time – double bonus!
5. Have kids that just WILL NOT settle down? Throw 4 drops of Cedarwood in the diffuser, and combine with 4 drops of Lavender to promote a really nice, restful sleep. Warning… it might be SO restful that you find yourself knocked out, too!
6. Kids can’t focus when homework is at stake? In our house, there are a bazillion distractions – eliminate those distractions and get them to finish that homework by putting 3-4 drops of Peppermint in the diffuser.
7. Is your bathtub grimy? Have a ring around the bathtub that you can’t get out? Easy fix – grab 1 cup of Baking Soda and 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner and mix together. Then get a scrub sponge damp and start scrubbing that bathtub.
8. Have the morning blues? A single drop of Joy Essential Oil over the Heart, or, 3-4 drops in the diffuser should put your mood in a much better place.
9. Have Sticky Residue to get off your hands (or, perhaps something else in the house?) Use 1-2 drops of Lemon Essential Oil to take that goo right off.
10. Occasional Stress from everyday life or work? Use 1-2 drops of Stress Away on your wrists or, add to your water.
11. Freshen up the bathroom by putting 2-3 drops of Lavender on a Cotton Ball and putting inside the toilet paper roll – it’ll release a scent every time you pull the roll.
12. Have lingering scents in the house that you want gone? Take a glass spray bottle and add 8-10 drops of your favorite Essential Oil, along with 4-6 ounces of water.. it’s a great room spray without the chemicals in the commercial items!
13. Have Spiders or Mice? They hate Peppermint Essential Oil! So add 6-7 drops to 4 – 6 oz of water in a glass spray bottle (we recommend THESE) and spritz/spray around those areas.
14. Have a child with an owie? Use a drop or two of Lavender Essential Oil to help them with their boo-boo and make them feel better, too! Lavender is GREAT for skin support.
15. Use a drop of Lemon Essential Oil in your glass of water every morning before breakfast to help move things through your body. Then continue through the day with a drop in your water bottle (stainless steel OR glass but NEVER plastic!) It takes 75 Lemons to make a 15 ml bottle of Lemon Essential Oil and the rinds have 68% d-limonene (which is a GREAT boost for your health!)
