Earlier last week we mentioned that you could pick up these cute Jelly Jars at Fry’s for $5.81 – with 12 in a flat, it’s the perfect way to stock up for gifts at the holidays.
Making your own gifts is SO much cheaper, not to mention it’s the path less traveled – which means they hold MORE meaning than store bought items {at least to this girl they do!}
These are such easy gifts, and so inexpensive to make – if you are more crafty you can make your own labels for each jar. We also mixed up scents last week and did a Fall Freshener, you can see that HERE.
If you are making these for MANY people the Polymer we used below should go FAR since you only need a Tablespoon. Give it a try & let us know how you do ~
Supplies
- Mason Jars – I used the 4 pk of Ball Canning Jars from Target – you can see HERE (only because I had these leftover) .. but you can ALSO use the jars we mentioned HERE
- Watersorb – got mine HERE
- Tulle
- Twine
- Rosemary Young Living Essential Oil
- Spearmint Living Essential Oil
How-To
- In a porcelain cereal bowl (not plastic!) stir together 1 Tbsp of Polymer Crystals with 8 oz. Hot Tap Water
- Add 20 drops of Spearmint Essential Oil & 20 Drops of Rosemary Essential Oil (I prefer to use Young Living!)
- Stir together until well blended and let it sit for a few minutes
- The crystals will absorb the water and eventually you’ll be left with a bowl of little crystals
- Split the mixture into 2 separate Jelly Jars
- If you use right away, then place a thin piece of Tulle over the top, then screw on the ring. If you are not using them right away, put the Tulle on the top, then screw on the cap and the ring both.
- If the gel dries out, you can add a little more water (just a little at a time!) and another few drops of Essential Oil
These are best in smaller spaces ~ and would work great as a gift for co-workers, teachers or even in your own office on your desk. Since I have crazy little kids that love to get into things, I covered mine immediately – but when gifting, you can put a piece of tulle under the top and then screw the ring on – otherwise depending on the jar you have, you can pick up Pewter Daisy Cut Lids, too!
Just make sure you have the right jars before you invest in lids.. they don’t work well on the Wide Mouth jars.
